Ohioans React to Vice President Joe Biden's Speech in Cincinnati (ContributorNetwork)

Vice President Joe Biden attended the AFL-CIO Union picnic at Coney Island in Cincinnati of Labor Day and talked to the Democratic crowd about a variety of topics. While the speech offered no specifics on how the Obama administration would "fix" the stagnant job situation in America, Biden and his cohort, Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown appeared to fire the base up to at least a lukewarm temperature.

My Ohio Twitter followers shared their thoughts on the vice president's speech via email and instant messaging.

* "I am so sick of seeing and hearing politicians say the same old thing. Where are the jobs Obama promised us? He is running out of time to deliver on his promises before the next election. I didn't think I would ever vote Republican, but at least Rick Perry knows how to keep people in his state employed." -- Victor Wooster, public union janitorial worker, Cincinnati.

* "It was exciting to get to see Vice President Biden and I agree with him on almost everything he and President Obama say, but it isn't working. We need more money for social justice programs and better union benefits." -- Carey Snyder, homemaker, Sharonville.

* "I didn't hear Biden speak in person, but have heard media clips with his empty rhetoric all day long on the radio and television. The liberals just don't get it. You actually have to work to make a living and pay your own fair share for your health insurance and pension. That is unless you want the state and country to go broke so we all have to rely on the government to exist." -- Bruce Roberts, small-business owner, Chillicothe.

* "I know what Biden and Obama are against and what they are for, but just don't quite grasp how they plan to accomplish it. Life is not fair, not everyone can own a home, go to college or own a fancy new car. It is time the liberals stop trying to play elementary school teacher and make sure everyone gets invited to the cool party. What you get depends on how hard you are willing to work. I lived in a camper for a year while getting my business going, eating hot dogs and baloney. Lazy people annoy me greatly." -- Thomas Graham, small-business owner Dayton.

* "I would have loved to have been able to make the union picnic this year and hear the vice president speak, but couldn't afford the gas to go to Cincinnati. If it weren't for all the tea baggers, President Obama could get something accomplished and get us out of this mess." -- Rashawna Hookna, graduate student at Ohio University, Athens.

* "So, Biden is going to swoop in and save the day? Right. Democrats have no clue how to get business moving again. All they know how to do is tax and spend us into an economic meltdown. Biden was as much of a token on the presidential ticket as Palin was. I am glad we have Rick Perry running now and hope he has the good sense to choose Herman Cain as a running mate in 2012." -- Rick Grover, small-business owner, Columbus.
