[OOC] Extra Info and FAQ

What is my chance of running into anything from the unseen world?
Running into a member or person who belongs to the unseen world is highly unusual. You have a greater chance of winning the lottery than simply bumping into one of these persons regularly.

Is it unseen simply because they're rare, or because they blend so well that I really wouldn't know a vampire or fey if I walked past them?
It is considered unseen due to their great strides taken to blend in with the human population. They're out there, they exist, and are perhaps slightly rare; a minority if you will.

If they are around, how do they keep themselves secret?
Usually they learn to lay low, and not do stupid things like snatch a meal in broad daylight. Older does not mean wiser.

Are there laws in place within their society to prevent them from revealing themselves to me?
There are no laws put into place, the MCU and the Council feel that these are beings with free will and that to control this free will would be a very complicated issue. Revealing themselves to those who aren't in the supernatural circles is frowned on, you could say that for them it's culturally unacceptable.

Or do they just bank on the fact that if I do accidentally see something I shouldn't, people are going to think I'm crazy?
They're going to bank on the fact you'll be considered one of those crazy people. It's a really good strategy if you think about it.

Would I be considered crazy if I believed in them?
Yes. You'd be lumped in there with the people who believe every alien, big foot and loch ness monster sighting out there.

How do the groups of creatures interact with each other?
There is mutual dislike among some fronts. The Fae hate the humans and mostly keep to themselves.
The vampires see the humans as a food source, and the world as theirs for the taking. Unfortunately things must be restricted to the cover of night.
The werewolves are not sure what to make of the human populace but, do not get along with the vampires (this is not a twilight reference). This goes back to a time when the vampires used the werewolves not as allies but as tools, as expendable.
Then you have the humans, whom some may or may not have the ability to control magic or unseen forces. These people walk a tightrope in the supernatural community, some choose to use these talents for good of course, then you have those who look to use others for their own benefit.

Can your vampires walk around during the day or not?
No! Not even the oldest vampire may walk in day. But there is a slight exception to this rule, the vampire must be covered. Not with sunscreen or a parasol, but physical clothing to prevent a barrier to the sun's UV radiation. This is the only exception.

Am I more likely to find a Fey in a tree or working at my local bar?
It's going to really depend on the Fae and their court. Some choose to stay back with nature, and others see the human world all as one big game to be won.

Even though the reemergence of religion is tied to the reappearance of the supernatural (if you call it that), is the average Catholic priest going to talk about them at Mass, or is his knowledge more a secret?
The supernatural is not going to be spoken about in a normal Catholic Mass, in fact the Catholics tend to discourage anything that wasn't their idea first. Exorcisms and investigations into haunting are easily dismissed by the Catholics. But, on the other hand the Eastern Orthodox recognize that there are other things out there that would and will do mankind harm, but they do not widely broadcast this to the world. The Pagan's recognize it, as it is in part a basis of their religion. (I may perhaps be wrong about the Pagans, please feel free to correct me..nicely)

Does he even know that such things exist?
The extent of what your average clergy or layman might know about is limited. As I said they know that there are things out there, but it is not widely discussed.

Do any of the creatures in your world use magic?
Yes, magic can be used. It is in a way a matter of learning. There are also those who are born with the talent or ability to control this energy or substance. Whatever you would like to call magic.

If so, what rules govern it?
For the purposes of Unseen I will be borrowing the rules outlined in the Dresden Files, and a few others.
