Cllr Helen Bromley met Her Majesty during the Diamond Jubilee tree planting in Hatfield Park, on June 14 and, while she knew they would both be at the same luncheon, she had no idea how close to the monarch she would be.

She told the WHT: ?I looked at the table plan and I was on table one, next to me was Lord Salisbury, and next to Lord Salisbury was the Queen.

?It was a real honour and really exciting and absolutely surreal.?

Cllr Bromley said Her Majesty had stayed longer than expected at the function, a decision which, she said suggested how ?comfortable? she was at Hatfield House.

She added: ?The overriding impression was how beautiful she was and there?s such light in her eyes ? there?s a real twinkle in her eyes.?

She said she shared a conversation with Her Majesty about the spectacular Diamond Jubilee Pageant on the River Thames [which was organised by Lord Salisbury].

And when Cllr Bromley said how much she?d enjoyed the accompanying music, Her Majesty exclaimed: ?You see it?s the music!? to Lord Salisbury.
