We are looking for an energetic, career-minded plant scientist to join us on a full-time basis in our Los Gatos office. The opening is for an entry-level plant biologist/ plant ecologist to conduct field studies, including but not limited to, plant community mapping, rare plant surveys, wetland assessments and delineations, and also prepare a variety of reports/technical studies including biological resource reports, resource agency permits, and natural resource management plans. Our firm works on a wide variety of projects for private and public clients varying in size from a few acres to several thousand acres. The broad spectrum of work sites can span from urbanized locations around the San Francisco Bay area to the wildlands of the Mojave Desert.
Desired qualifications include a degree (M.S. preferred but highly qualified B.S. candidates also considered) in plant biology, plant ecology, plant sciences, or biological sciences with emphasis in botany and ecology. Experience in plant identification, quantitative field surveys, plant community/association mapping, wetland delineation, environmental impact analysis, and permit preparation is a real plus. Demonstrable technical writing ability and good communication skills are essential. Experience with Trimble GeoXT/XH, general GIS/ArcView knowledge/experience is preferred. Due to the geographical distribution of our projects, a willingness to travel for survey work, particularly during the spring survey season, is appreciated. Experience with insect biology and/or insect surveys is also viewed positively for this position.
