Hong Kong agriculture and fisheries delegation visits Guangdong ...

Released on March 23rd, 2012

Led by the Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation, Mr Alan Wong, a delegation representing the agriculture and fisheries sector visited Guangdong from March 19 to 23, where they met with their Mainland counterparts and visited scientific research institutes for agriculture as well as agricultural and fisheries enterprises.

?Hong Kong and the Mainland, especially Guangdong, are closely connected. Under the Co-operation Agreement on Quality Agricultural Products, both sides agreed to set up a platform for fostering exchanges on the production and marketing of agricultural products and share relevant information. In addition, Guangdong and Hong Kong will strengthen exchange and training for farming practitioners, researchers and management professionals in quality agricultural production. Both places will establish a co-operation mechanism and organise technical exchange activities,? Mr Wong said.

The delegation met officials from the Department of Agriculture of Guangdong Province and exchanged views on how co-operation between the two places can be further strengthened. They also visited the Guangdong Animal Disease Prevention and Control Centre and Supervision and Inspection Centre for Pesticide Quality and Residue Control under the Ministry of Agriculture.

The delegation visited the South China Agricultural University and Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences to learn more about research studies on pests and disease control in crops and organic farming. To keep abreast of the latest agricultural developments, the delegation visited a vegetable farm and flower market.

On fisheries, the delegation visited an enterprise engaged in the import and export of aquatic products. They shared their experiences in aquaculture techniques.

Members of the delegation included Assistant Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation, Dr So Ping-man; Acting Assistant Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation, Mr Chan Chi-chiu; Legislative Council member, Mr Wong Yung-kan; and representatives from the Vegetable Marketing Organisation, Federation of Vegetable Marketing Co-operative Societies Limited and Advisory Committee on Agriculture and Fisheries. Dog Collars Vs Canine Harnesses - That Is Most Suitable For Your ...

Note: to read about Comfy Control harness, click here

Although 1 may believe that a large canine can certainly pull harder and therefore need more restraint, the truth is that little dogs have little necks and small necks have fragile throats and tracheas. If your canine is below 20 pounds, you could put his/her throat in danger by pulling on their neck from a collar. Even a little quantity of pressure applied in an incorrect way could cause damage to your dog's neck. We endorse that you find a comfy fitting little dog harness and use it when you use the leash. In addition, in the event you use a car safety belt for your doggy, then it is best to connect it to a harness irrespective of the size of the canine. Many of these doggy harnesses are made of soft material that's comfortable and could be laundered if this gets dirty.

?

How Well is Your Dog Trained for Leash Walking?

Whether or not you've a little pet or a big dog, you might require to investigate unique harness/collar choices if your dog tends to pull difficult or if he/she is tough to manage on a leash. For these dogs that have a tendency to "walk their owners" there are a quantity of options. You may first attempt a harness, but if that doesn't work, then you may consider a type of leash that goes around the muzzle and controls the top of the dog. There are also "choke" kind collars which are generally much more well-liked with bigger, stronger dogs like Pit Bulls or rambunctious Labradors. It's not a great concept to put one of these collars for dogs on a small animal as you might wind up having a huge vet bill. If your doggy comes into this class, the best answer usually is some coaching with a expert. The monetary investment may be far less than the frustration as a result of a cantankerous puppy.Irrespective of whether or not you use a dog collar or harness when running your pup, you'll nonetheless probably want to have a collar for the dog's tags. Most cities require a pet dog to be licensed and some have nonetheless fines for neglecting to do this.

U.S. Department of Defense preps cyber rules of engagement, plans to work more closely with ISPs

The Pentagon left no room for argument last year when it declared cyber attacks a potential act of war. "If you shut down our power grid, maybe we will put a missile down one of your smokestacks," a military official reportedly remarked. Yikes. Before we start bombing chimneys, however, the Department of Defense plans to draft up some relevant guidelines, noting in a recent House Armed Services Committee hearing that it will be delivering a set of cyberspace-specific rules of engagement in the coming months. "We are working closely with the joint staff on the implementation of a transitional command and control model for cyberspace operations," said Madelyn Creedon, assistant secretary of defense for Global Strategic Affairs. In addition to setting ground rules for cyber-engagements, the DOD also plans to expand efforts to share classified information on possible threats with internet service providers and defense contractors.

Google Analytics Update Connects Social Marketing With The Bottom Line

01 - Social OverviewIf you've ever been to an online marketing conference in the past year or so, or even read an article on the subject, you've probably heard someone ask, "What's the ROI on social marketing?" (Alternate version: "What's the value of a Like or a retweet?") That's what the new version of Google Analytics is trying to answer. Given the increasing importance of social marketing and social network traffic, it was probably inevitable that the Google Analytics team would add social-focused reports. However, Group Product Manger Phil Mui says the new reports take a different approach than most social analytics products, which are more focused on "listening" (i.e., counting mentions, retweets, analyzing sentiment, and so on).

The Importance of a Disaster Recovery Plan | Computer How To Guide

Posted by Victor Daily on March 21st, 2012 |

This is a guest post by Victor Daily.

In the past, disaster recovery has been an overlooked aspect of the information technology (IT) industry. Even now it is often seen as non-essential by many IT departments with reduced budgets. But as natural disasters are happening on a larger scale all over the world, disaster recovery is becoming essential to keeping major technological infrastructures up and running. In fact, the biggest IT concerns in 2012 will revolve around technological infrastructure continuity. In order for this to happen, more companies will need to implement an effective disaster recovery plan (DRP).

Disaster Recovery Plan

What is a Disaster Recovery Plan Exactly?

A disaster recovery plan (DRP), often referred to as a business continuity plan (BCP) refers to a set of procedures used to keep your business up and running in the event of a major natural disaster or other crisis. How does this relate to IT? Since the majority of business operations require the heavy use of modern computing devices, and other IT-based solutions, it?s up to the IT department to develop and implement the DRP. As computing and networking systems become more complex, a major infrastructure outage can cost some large enterprise organizations millions of dollars.

Why Your Company Doesn?t have a DRP in Place

The unfortunate reality is that many enterprise-level businesses are completely unprepared for a major crisis. In fact, one-third of all US businesses operate without a DRP set in place. In most cases, IT managers view disaster recovery planning as an unnecessary expense. The problem with this thinking is that it overlooks some very serious problems that could result from an infrastructure outage. This is especially true if your company performs the majority of its transactions online or in the cloud. An outage can mean the loss of massive amounts of daily revenue. Large companies can lose millions in a matter of a few hours, depending on their online sales traffic.

Elements of an Effective DRP

Unfortunately, not all DRPs are created equal. Even the IT managers who have a DRP in place are often focusing on the wrong things. First off, you need a plan for protecting your data. This includes having an offsite location to store your backups. Some of the best solutions for this are available in third-party cloud computing solutions. Secondly, if your business relies heavily on software solutions, you need an external repository where you can access key software solutions in a pinch. Lastly, you need to have a plan for restoring computing and communications devices. This includes laptops, desktops, tablet PCs, telephone systems and smartphones.

Conclusion

The reality is you can?t afford to put off setting up a DRP. If it?s a matter of cost, there are several managed services that will setup your business continuity plan. These companies make sure all of your data, software and computing machines are all backed up and easily restored. They also have the staffing and computer processing resources commonly unavailable to most IT departments. In any case, it?s important to have a disaster recovery plan in place as soon as possible. This will ultimately ensure that your business remains functional in the event of a major crisis.

Summitt, Tennessee move on, beat DePaul 63-48

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) ? For all the uncertainty surrounding Tennessee, one thing isn't changing. The Lady Volunteers are back in the NCAA's round of 16.

They're looking for more, of course, and another Final Four with Pat Summitt would be a sweet way to cap this season. It's just about in sight, too.

Shekinna Stricklen scored 17 points and Glory Johnson grabbed a career-high 21 rebounds to lead Summitt and Tennessee past DePaul 63-48 in the second round of the NCAA women's tournament on Monday night.

Vicki Baugh scored 16 for the Lady Volunteers (26-8), who grabbed a double-digit lead early in the second half and closed out a physical game in which players seemed to hit the floor about as often as they hit shots. Now, they're headed to the round of 16, where they'll meet third-seeded Delaware or 11th-seeded Kansas on Saturday, and Johnson expects the bruises to mount.

"It's a big girls' game," Johnson said.

The Lady Vols were standing tall at the end of this game, and they hope to do just that when final buzzer sounds on this season.

Tennessee stretched a five-point halftime lead to 12 early in the second half and was up 42-29 after a hook shot by Baugh with 11:41 remaining. The Lady Vols remained in control from there and moved closer toward their ultimate goal ? a 19th Final Four and ninth NCAA title.

The powerhouse program hasn't been that far since it repeated as champions in 2008, a nearly four-year drought that might as well be four decades given its history.

If the Lady Vols make it to Denver, that would be quite the story.

Summitt announced in early August that she has early onset dementia, Alzheimer's type, and she might not coach beyond this season. There have been ups and downs on the court, too, but Tennessee appears to be in stride at the moment, with six straight wins after improving to 20-0 against the Blue Demons.

Tennessee routed DePaul in December in New York and prevailed this time on the court where the Blue Demons' men's team plays most of its home games.

The Lady Vols shot just over 37 percent but prevailed anyway thanks to a huge rebounding advantage, particularly in the second half. The final tally was 51-31 after Tennessee outrebounded the Blue Demons by two in the first half.

A big reason for that was Johnson. Even though she scored just eight points, she controlled the glass on both ends of the court.

"My team relies on me to be a presence in the paint, and when I'm not scoring, I try to do my best to rebound offensively and defensively," Johnson said. "I know that's something I can control. It's effort. I try to put the effort and heart into defense and rebounding."

Anna Martin scored 20 points for DePaul (23-11), but a difficult season came to an end. The Blue Demons were hit hard by injuries, losing star Keisha Hampton (knee), and were forced to go with a seven-player rotation.

"I think a lot of people counted us out, but we're not that kind of program and we proved that in making the NCAA tournament in the first place and then pushing through into the second round," forward Katherine Harry said.

DePaul made its 10th straight NCAA but simply came up short against one of the marquee programs.

No other school has made all 31 NCAA tournaments, and the only time Tennessee failed to reach the Sweet 16 was in 2009, when the Lady Vols got knocked out in the first round, a year after capturing their eighth championship. The only player left from that team is Baugh.

The rest of the seniors, who were part of a heralded recruiting class, are trying to avoid becoming the first to go all four years at Tennessee without a Final Four appearance.

"I think in the past, they've looked ahead," associate head coach Holly Warlick said. "I think they thought if they put a Tennessee uniform on, they're going to win a national championship, but it's hard work. It doesn't just happen."

Establishing Successful Customer Relationships Through Effective ...

?One can not always oblige, one can, however, always speak obligingly ?? says Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Indian spiritual master, modern Which is to exact explanation for the complex role of corporate communication in corporations today.

The customer, as the old saying goes, is the king! A king he truly is he believes, that is, till the not-so-charitable mandarins of marketing let him know and make him aware, rather painfully for him that, he is one among the many millions that feel that way, without actually being that way. However, the same mandarins grudgingly acknowledge that a happy customer is a brand?s success, while a delighted customer is a brand?s ambassador. The customer relationship management paradigm ? popularly abbreviated as CRM ? is built on these pillars PRECISELY. And the customer enjoys a precarious position in this paradigm.

In the CRM Efforts concentrated a company often forgets the basic thing that is the cornerstone of the concept ? relationship! Traditional marketing theories have always focused on attracting new customers, rather than retaining existing customers. Over the past decade, thanks to intensified competition and greater variety of products, this has gradually altered. The current flavor of marketing is ?retain? more than ?gain?. Because retention leads to growth and growth leads to fulfillment. In marketing, today, the consumer is treated not as a king but like a mischievous sprite. He is accused ? well, almost ? of making a fire dance to his wishes and whims. While purists argue that brands need Tend to customers and vice versa, Modernists counter it by saying that customers need a brand, any brand, so long as the brand is enjoying his willingness. This disproportionate balance shapes brand communication strategies. Positioning in itself is no longer a marketer?s tool but rather as awkward proposition at grave to the customer?s fancy. Positioning is not brand or product or benefit or feature-centric anymore, it is customer-centric

What is then important to Establish a relationship between a brand and its customer.? In order to build a personal relationship, the brand?s personality has to come through (Michael C. Gray, 2006). It will no longer be brand and customer, but simply ?you? and ?I? ? collaboration is a well-developed leads to ?we?, Which could be a fulfilling state for a brand and a customer.

Social researchers have always advised marketers that people prefer to do business with people, not institutions or brands. This implies that corporate communication has to be the link that helps to build and maintain a healthy relationship between both stakeholders. Technically there can be several types of regular communication: newsletters, fax messages, voice broadcasts, blogs, sales letters, emails and more

Communication with customers Reflects the following aspects of a relationship..
o Strong culture
o Favorable identity
o Coherent Philosophy
o Genuine sense of camaraderie

It may not be instant gratification or affection but effective corporate communication at Establishes Appropriate and professional relationship with the customer, including quick, responsible channels of two-way communication.

Corporate communication is all about managing perceptions and Ensuring that effective and timely dissemination of with a positive corporate image information is created that Ensures a smooth and affirmative relationship with all customers, at all times.

Be it a corporate body , company, research institution, non-governmental organization, PSU, all of them need to have a respectable image and reputation in the eyes of the customer. In today?s day and age of increasing competition, easy access to information and media explosion ? has gained even greater reputation management importance. . So, as a corporate communications role has become significant in nature and professional while dealing with customers

Gone are the days when corporate communications Merely meant ?wining and dining the client?, it has now emerged as a science and art of perception management. The concept of managing relationships with customers is as old as trade itself, but the focus has always been to sell products and services (Kotler, Philip, Introduction to Marketing Principles). Competition, driven by globalization and the Internet has changed the face of business. Customers now have a variety of choices and, most importantly, they are becoming far more knowledgeable and demanding. The power has shifted to the customer truly. With this scenario, most companies realize that they need to treat their customers with more care.

Companies are now desperately searching for different ways to manage their relationships Effectively, not only to acquire new customers, but also to retain the existing ones. According to a study by Harvard Business Review Reicheld & Sasser, some companies can boost their profits by almost 100% by retaining just 5% or more of their existing customers. Customers express their satisfaction in many ways. When they are satisfied, they mostly say nothing but return again, and again, to buy or use more. Measuring satisfaction is only half the story. So it is Necessary to deter mine customers? expectations or the importance they attach to different overtures of a fire, otherwise resources could be spent raising satisfaction levels of things that matter not Thurs. The measurement of expectations is more difficult or importance than the measurement of satisfaction. Many people do not know or can not admit, even to Themselves, what is important. Consumers spend their time not Thurs rationalizing why they do things, their views change and they may not be able to easily communicate or admit to the complex issues in the buying argument. A customer satisfaction index is a snapshot at a point in time. People?s views change continuously and the performance of companies in delivering customer satisfaction is changing also. Measuring satisfaction must be a continuous process. (Paul & Nick Hague, White Paper on Customer Satisfaction Surveys, B2B International Ltd.). Even when experts discuss CRM, the discussion is almost always from the point of view of marketing, sales and business development. Seldom is looked upon as a CRM ?goal? that every organization should Actively pursue. Often it is looked upon as a tool that every organization could use. The differences are plenty. And CRM is not an IT function. CRM is more often a function of communication, by the company directly, through intermediary to search as a PR agency or simply through the media. Successful CRM practices is not about statistics, data warehousing or loyalty programs, rather it is about competing in the relationship dimension, not as in alternative to having a competitive product or reasonable price-but acting as a differentiator in terms of ?feelings for the customer?, however abstractly ? and sometimes absurdly ? romantic that may sound. Run if brands can get an edge based on how customers feel about the brand, it?s a much more sustainable in the long relationship. This feeling for a brand, as brand theorists prefer to call it is directly proportional to the communication Efforts, words written and spoken sentences, that emanate from a company. link it to the corporate communication strategy and you will have a direct connect between the company and its customer. The critical dimension of any CRM practice is the relationship that a brand shares with its customers. Using the word itself may sound a trifle customer improper here because ?customer? implies that the person is ?outside? a relationship. And any relationship is expressed and nurtured by communication. Almost always marketers try to understand a customer from the marketing perspective, as people who have to be ?given? something to retain their loyalty. This naturally places them on a moral (and commercial) pedestal that Enables them to look down upon hapless customers as beneficiaries of their largess. In communication parlance signifies this up and power down positions. And in a relationship between equals the power position is not hierarchical. Sometimes the anachronistic social mindset refuses to place the customer on even keel with a brand ? and vice versa ? painting him as a king, or as to unrealistically greedy pauper

CRM is a simple process, because Establishing a. relationship is simple. Nowhere is more profound understanding than when it comes to human emotions ? but surprisingly the very same human emotions have been overlooked by companies while interacting with their customers.

What is a relationship? When is there a relationship between two entities? What is the role of corporate communications in establishing, Maintaining and seeking fulfilling relationships? Relationship could simply mean to be a Particular type of connection existing between people related to each other with biologically or emotionally and having social or economic dealings with each other. Unfortunately all pretenses of dealing with relationships that often ask for simplicity, empathy, credibility and sincerity cease the moment commercial returns on investments are discussed. Which is what communication is all about, communicating to customers, and not with them

Researchers have often Argued that to understand brand-customer relationships, it is Necessary to consider what the brand thinks of its customers, more. than what the customers think of a brand. Marketers struggle hard to enhance the satisfaction of customers only to find that they choose their competitors. Why does this happen? Research has further shown that investments in customer communication, Which logically seems to be the most crucial aspect in a relationship, has been the most neglected area in most companies.

The argument for this lies in the reality that 65 % of all customer service activities are outsourced to business processing units (BPUs). That means the brand does not directly handle customer interactions and queries ? unless they are of a Certain level, of course. This is akin to asking your friend to talk to your representative about everything that you want to say, including ? affairs of the heart, and speak directly only if it is something serious! This attitude, in the first instance, is marketing-driven and one-sided. There are so many brand-loyalty programs, Which are being attempted by marketers in isolation without the support of several back up other relevant and related strategies. There is a distinctive need for marketers to understand the importance of customer communication, and not Merely look at it from the point of view of public relations, advertising or other known corporate forms of communication. Often corporate communication strategies are Designed ? to work as a bridge between stakeholders, to justify policies and decisions, to deliver business strategies, to inform and persuade, and of course to emphasize that the company is committed to putting customer interests first, almost as an after thought! ?

p> Thus corporate communications is almost always understood as a process used to build, foster, nurture and extend business relationships with customers. This is unfortunately a bureaucratic understanding, as GE?s former CEO Jack Welch says, ?bureaucracies love to focus inward It?s not that they dislike customers;. They just do not find them as interesting as themselves.? . And the communication Reflects it

In ?Customers Are People: The Human Touch?, author Jon McKean states that in competitive markets, where customers have a choice between similar products and pricing, ?70% percent of customer decision-making is based on how customers are treated. ? ?Yet,? McKean adds, ?Over 80 per cent of customer initiatives are focused on ?selling to customers better? through superior products, prices and promotions, than in investing more resources in treating customers better ?? How best can a person be treated? . Simply by being talked to in a better manner

The question staring squarely on the faces of companies is: ?How to make a customer loyal?? When companies talk of relationships where customers have real choices, they are honestly trying to be the best suitor to the customer, ?as the customer sees it,? and not ?as they want the customer to see it?. Reichheld and other loyalty experts have studied this issue for years and have concluded that relationships are driven by the behavior and perception of customers of the value of the relationship that exists between the brand and himself, which is the net result of what economic and psychological value Receives the customer from the fire.

According to psychologists customers? emotional states influence about 50 percent of the value they perceive from their purchases. Jim Barnes, author of ?Secrets of Customer Relationship Management: It?s All About How You Make Them Feel?, sums it up by saying, ?Value is created every time a customer is made to feel welcome, important and valued.?

reasonably After agreeing to the fact that the important aspects in CRM are relationship and how customers, on account of their distinct behavior and personality, differently and uniquely perceive a relationship, it is therefore imperative to stress on the point that corporate communication is the prime driver of any relationship. As the leading Indian telecom brand AirTel shows in its advertisements, communication is all about expressing oneself.

A brand identity is shaped by a collective interactive experience of customers, product, policy, and strategy. Which is why developing a brand-customer relationship is important. The choice is simple: either a brand makes a customer experience or it gets created despite the fire. To create a successful relationship proposition, the brand must develop a compelling identity with the customer and have a genuine value. The brand must rely on customer perspective, appreciate the view point and have the ability to communicate appropriately. A common pitfall for many brands is that they do not take the time to think about how they should articulate the brand identity. Needless to say, a successful brand strategy is incomplete without a sound communications strategy. The organization must be aligned in ways that anticipate and Fulfill customers? expectations at every touch point emotionally to create meaningful relationships and lasting competitive advantage. Successful customer communication clearly highlights the brand?s functional, emotional, and self-expressive benefits, as the customer would like to see. It is delivered in a way that is unique or superior when Compared to Competitors. Customer experience is shaped by a series of interactions with in organization. According to Jonathan Hardcastle, barriers to effective communication examined as frames of reference, value judgments, selective listening, filtering and distrust (all between sender and receiver ) complicate the communication systems and messages. However, these can be overcome by sending clear, complete, and specific messages, Which are to put it rather romantically, ?straight from the heart?. Demonstrating love and affection, clarifying intentions, being reliable and dynamic can enhance credibility, exhibiting warmth and friendliness, and building a positive image. Soliciting and providing specific feedback can also enhance communication effectiveness between partners, Which is what brands should consider customers As.

One of the most important consumer satisfaction elements is the ability to ask questions and being able to receive appropriately satisfying answers from the brand?s representatives. Gaining information, uncovering motives, giving incentives, obtaining participation, checking understanding, initiating the thinking process, inducing agreements, and refocusing attention, are all essential components of an effective consumer communication plan, says Hardcastle. Thus, the active listening skills of a brand to help build rapport with customers that is both intimate and empathetic.

The other most important aspect is the subtle non-verbal communication of a brand and the customers, that is useful both in reading the underlying emotions and attitudes of customers, while reinforcing a brand?s verbal messages. Understanding subtle communication can enhance the brand-customer relationship. Coupled with this are improving standards of technology and devices that add an edge to the communication process. Unfortunately over-dependence on technology and automation has had an adverse impact on customer relationship. While on one hand brands talk of a relationship ? a concept normally associated with living things and human beings Largely in particular ? on the other hand the overuse of technology has led to a dissociation that has taken the customer and brand away from each other. This dichotomous situation

has to be Recognized by the brand as well as the customer, for communication is all about power positions, and it is important to understand that in a relationship the power positions are on an even keel.

Concluding, due to the growing complexity and turbulence of the business environment and the related growth in research knowledge about customer behavior patterns, managers of the 21st century have to take four themes as paramount, the necessity of managing the challenges of change, functioning within a global environment, being sensitive to the diversity among people,. and behaving with ethical integrity

The final ingredient that binds a customer to your brand in a lasting relationship is dialogue. Your company?s brand is not a monolithic, hermetic face that the organization presents to the world. Rather, it?s an ongoing exchange where you listen carefully to your customers, understand what they say, and respond by modifying your value proposition and Extending your businesses appropriately to Fulfil customers? desires. You exist because of the customer. This selflessness is the cornerstone to successful CRM

Therefore any corporate communication effort should focus broadly on three aspects:. Understanding relationships, understanding the distinct behavior of consumers to relationship overtures and understanding (and Establishing) the role of communication in effective and enduring customer relationships.

Tips On Asset Management and Human Resource Management ...

What is asset management? It is just a business process and a decision making structure that covers something more important in order to come up with cost effective investment decisions. For this to work, you need to have practice good human resource management by hiring the correct people with the right qualifications to obtain the job done.

This job falls for the human resources department as they are all things considered the ones in charge of hiring. Before, the people who worked here simply gave the staff their paychecks. But that is only some of the thing they do. They are meant to train and develop the staff so they feel that they are portion of something bigger.

The professionals who will be supposed to do this should see themselves as certain things. First as a strategic partner and 2nd, a changing agent. Strategic partner because with out them, a company will not prosper. A changing agent which is through them that the employees can become better individuals.

With that, you?ll be able to say that human resource management will be the bridge between the administration and the employee. For a company to practice true human asset management, their human resource department has to do the following.

First, they need to have an active role in organizational planning. To generate this happen, they must be in the power to dictate what is needed inside planning phase including the necessary resources.

A persons resource department should be able to recruit employees which are best suited for the organization when you?re given a free hand regarding how this will be achieved. This includes the selection process which involves the testing along with the administering component.

Human asset management are only able to happen if the human resource department will be able to produce change. This is done by seeing what has to be improved on in an employee and then coming up with programs that will enhance it. This consists of of course facilitating and overseeing working out. If this was never done before, it needs to be evaluated to see if there are any flaws so this can be avoided in the future.

Let?s take into account the basics such as traditional personnel administration including administering wages and benefits, time management, employee cost management as well as employee performance review and appraisals.

Human asset management is serious business because how good the company does depends on individuals they hire to complete the various positions. If they bring in help and he or she is untrained, problems will occur. If your company has a high turnover, money is also wasted because of the time, training and money that were invested in that person.

To hold employees happy or motivated, there is also to come up with programs that will grow their skills even if they should be tempted by offers from competitors.

Asset management is often a combination of different things. These include cash, bonds, stocks, property the ones. If you want your business to prosper, you need an effective human resource management team in place that will take care of it. Otherwise, you will have problems within the organization. Individuals will quit and when your competitors observe that, this can be used to their advantage to what they may even take over your company.

DURHAM, N.H. A parking lot at the edge of the University of New Hampshire campus has contributed important research to an emerging concern for the environment and human health.

The research, detailed in a recent feature article in the journal Environmental Science & Technology, has found that one type of pavement sealcoat, common on driveways and parking lots throughout the nation, has significant health and ecosystem implications. Alison Watts, research assistant professor of civil engineering at UNH, is a co-author of the article "Coal-Tar-Based Pavement Sealcoat and PAHs: Implications for the Environment, Human Health, and Stormwater Management."

Sealcoat, a black surface applied over asphalt pavements that is marketed as improving appearance and enhancing pavement longevity, is made of either an asphalt emulsion or a refined coal-tar pitch emulsion. Although the two sealcoats are similar in appearance and cost, concentrations of PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons), a group of organic compounds known to be detrimental to human and ecosystem health, are about 1,000 times higher in coal-tar-based sealcoats than those based in asphalt.

Conducting side-by-side studies of coal-tar-based sealcoated and nonsealcoated parking lots at UNH's West Edge lot, Watts, a researcher with the UNH Stormwater Center, found that the soil at the edge of the sealcoated lot contained "orders of magnitude higher concentrations" several hundred parts per million (ppm) from the sealcoated lot versus less than 10 ppm from the lot without sealcoating -- of PAHs. What's more, soil samples taken three years after the initial application of sealcoat remained high in PAHs.

The problem may be even more pronounced in New England: PAHs move into the environment as the sealcoat wears off, a process that snowplows seem to accelerate. "We think it's likely that we have even a more severe problem here in the Northeast, because the sealcoat wears off more rapidly," Watts says.

The journal article discusses the potential human health effects of coal-tar-based sealcoat, which is associated with elevated concentrations of PAHs in house dust, soil, air, water, and sediment. It cites a recent study that found that children living in homes adjacent to pavement with coal-tar-based sealcoat were likely exposed to about 14-fold higher doses of PAHs than those living adjacent to unsealed pavement. Studies at the Columbia Center for Children's Health have found that PAHs in homes can contribute to delays in cognitive development, asthma and other respiratory symptoms, obesity and metabolic disorders, or changes at the molecular level that could increase children's cancer risk.

Unlike many complex environmental issues, however, this one has a relatively painless fix: avoid coal-tar-based sealcoats in favor of asphalt-based ones, or no sealcoat at all. "Consumers generally can't tell the difference," Watts says. And voluntary shifts in the market are making that choice easier, she says, noting that retailers Home Depot and Lowes no longer sell coal-tar-based sealcoat, and several commercial sealcoaters use only asphalt-based sealcoat.

"The crux of this issue is that it's a fairly simply choice we can make that will be beneficial to the environment and to human health without significant impact to the users," Watts says.

Moving beyond the Stormwater Center's test parking lots, Watts will next study the effect of coal-tar-based sealcoats in raising the PAH concentration in the sediments of New Hampshire's Great Bay. "PAHs are increasing in Great Bay sediments, and in fact in sediments across the country," she says. While there are other sources of PAHs in the Great Bay -- including old gas plants, car exhaust, and woodstove smoke -- she wonders if sealcoat may be the culprit.

Presidential Campaign Trail Detours Through Mississippi, Alabama for GOP Primaries

For Mississippi Republicans, Mitt Romney's awkward declaration of his love for grits the other day may be a small price to pay for relevance.

Rarely does the small, Southern state get much attention, let alone a full-throated pander, from a presidential candidate. By the time Mississippi held its 2008 primary on March 11, the only candidates left in the race other than the presumptive nominee, John McCain, were Ron Paul and Alan Keyes. And as a state that hasn?t voted for a Democratic nominee since Jimmy Carter, Mississippi doesn?t see much action in the general election.

But this year, in a drawn-out Republican race, Mississippi will hold an unusually competitive primary on Tuesday. Two other states likely to be overlooked in the general campaign, Republican-leaning Alabama and President Obama?s birth state of Hawaii, will also get their brief moment in the national spotlight when they vote on Tuesday.

Demographics and conservative political climates suggest the Southern states will favor Newt Gingrich or Rick Santorum over a Mormon, ex-governor of Massachusetts who has flip-flopped on abortion and gay rights, but polls suggest anyone could win either state. Exit polls in Tennessee and Oklahoma, two Super Tuesday states Santorum won last week, show Romney struggling in the South to win over blue-collar workers, conservative voters, evangelical Christians, and strong tea-party supporters.

A Romney victory in the Deep South, the heart of the Republican Party, far from his comfort zones in the Northeast and the West, would go a long way in dispelling doubts about his ability to unite the party. He?s called the contests in the South ?a bit of an away game,?? turning to comedian and Georgia native Jeff Foxworthy and proclaiming his fondness for catfish to help him bridge the gap. Romney's prospects in Mississippi have been boosted by endorsements from all seven of the Republican statewide elected officials, including newly elected Gov. Phil Bryant.

"I would never have thought Romney would have gotten in the game like he has,'' said Marty Wiseman, a political science professor at Mississippi State University who serves as director of the Stennis Institute of Government. "I think Republicans here don't care who gets elected as long as he can beat Barack Obama, and that's helping them rationalize any problems they have with Mitt Romney.''

If Romney really wanted to go for broke in Mississippi, Wiseman joked, he would have traded the grits he ate for a "bowl of chitterlings. If he could eat that without making a face, they would label him a good ol' boy for the day."

The best possible scenario for Romney, barring an unlikely win in Alabama or Mississippi, would be for Gingrich and Santorum to split the two states and continue to divide conservative voters. If Gingrich walks away empty-handed on Tuesday, after winning only South Carolina and his home state of Georgia, he will have a harder time making the case that he should continue his campaign. Same goes for Santorum, though he has more wins under his belt.

Looking ahead, Romney was viewed as the heavy favorite in the Illinois primary on March 20, but a new Chicago Tribune/WGN-TV poll shows him only slightly ahead of Santorum, 35 percent to 31 percent. That is within the poll's 4 percentage-point margin of error.

Without an unexpected victory in Mississippi or Alabama on Tuesday, Romney will have a hard time ending this nomination battle anytime soon.

Facebook as a Social Media Agency in Real Estate | Internet ...

Real estate, no matter what age a person is, can best be described as peculiar. Perhaps the most commonly associated word with real estate is ?property,? but apart from that there isn?t a great deal of understanding around the subject. It can also be said that people who are interested in buying real estate might not know where to go or are too timid by going outside of their comfort zones. Web marketing should not be so terrifying, though. For most people who frequent the Internet, Facebook, with its simple painstaking and easy-to-use structure, is perfect for social media management when it comes to pursuing real estate.

While one isn?t going to be Facebook friends with everyone in the world, there is a good chance that people will find a stranger?s real estate ad on the site. Seen as a site frequented on one?s leisure time, they can feel more relaxed if they come across such details as mortgage rates and the overall size of an area of land. Such an example of web marketing can be compared to welcoming someone over to their house and serving their friend?s favorite drink as opposed to their own. The circumstances might be different but the environment is soothing enough that it ultimately doesn?t matter.

Along with Facebook?s harmless look in comparison to typical websites is the streamlined conversation between people. Whether Facebook?s instant messaging service or posting back and forth on one?s wall, the speediness of a conversation is fast and there isn?t the painstaking wait of having a client respond. More likely than not, a real estate owner will require a familiar form of communication through telephone or face-to-face conversation but using Facebook?s free messaging services helps to lay the groundwork for the future.

Facebook can not only be suitable to the potential customer interested in real estate but the seller as well. On the subject of Facebook pages, a seller can see the many details of a person, from important factors like education and job history to more personal things like photos. The reputation of a customer is important; a seller doesn?t want to do business with someone who seems adolescent since it puts them at risk of not making a sale at all. Buyers take on social media management since they want to market themselves as acceptable property owners. Not only does a seller have to be aware of what they see but a customer, if serious about buying real estate, has to control what others have access to on their page.

In terms of marketing real estate, Facebook might be the most favorable place to get started. A clean interface means that there?s not much, if any, confusing code to type when preparing the advertisements. The conversation can also happen in real time, depending on the scheduling of both the buyer and seller. The streamlined nature of Facebook is important as is the amount of content a seller sees and the buyer allows. Social media management on Facebook is necessary, especially when real estate is in the midst of a transaction.
